This year the festival begins a partnership with the Municipal Cultural Arenas of Rio de Janeiro, with a program that includes contemporary dance workshops and exhibition of films from the video library of Ponto de Cultura Espaço Panorama, which will display a series of videos about street dance.

Contemporary Dance Workshop with Marcel Gbeffa

Marcel Gbeffa (Benin, Africa) is choreographer and artistic director of Multicorps company. He discovered contemporary dance in 2001, in the association ORIculture Beninese’s section of contemporary dance. Participates in several workshops and internships including the 8th edition of professional training on traditional and contemporary dance of Africa at the École des Sables Germaine Acogny at Senegal.  As a interpreter, he participates on creations of international choreographers, including the creations of Marceline Lartigue, Andreya Ouamba and Reggie Wilson, with whom is touring and giving training in the United States. His choreographic talents are noticed with his solo “E se” (2008 ) selected for the solo contest  Encontros Coreográficos da África e do Oceano Índico in 2010. Marcel Gbeffa worked with renowned choreographers and pedagogues such as Norbert Senou and Caroline Fabre (France/Berlin), Germaine and Patrick Acogny (Senegal /France), Longafo Eyeoto (Congo) , Nora Chipaumir (Zimbabwe/New York) , Vincent Mantsoe (South Africa ), Michelle Bordou (France), Sarah Carlson (USA) and many others.

Improvisation and contact workshops with the choreographer Marcel Gbeffa will happen on October 15 and 19, at the Arenas of Penha and Pavuna.
