Entrando na Dança 2014 – Criações Comunitárias brings three shows this edition: one inspired on Charme, one of Funk / Passinho and one of Hip Hop, all built through a contemporary perspective of conception. After three months, together with the participants, choreographers conceived the works, which now have life and an own name. Learn more about these creation’s process:
Suave
Phenomenon from the musical genre Funk, Passinho was the inspiration for the conception of Suave, by Alice Ripoll, who worked with ten dancers in the Arena Carioca Dicró, at Penha. “Suave” means calm, “in a good vibe”. A common slang used by the participants, on the stage, “suave” stops being an adjective and becomes a living metaphor of the companiship between choreographer and dancers, something that is present on their daily life.
Hectic pace, Passinho carries a vital energy of the movement, which dominates the bodies of these young people and presents very distinct traces of the beat that it comes from. Through this rich composition of movements, mixing styles like frevo, samba and kuduro, Ripoll works these ingenious dance moves and creates, with humorous and entertaining protagonists, a singular narrative.
Sob rodas
Sob Rodas, by Renato Cruz, speaks of differences, divergent points that intersect: the old with the new, the man with the woman, the northeast, the “sudestino”, the northern and north.
“The wheel is a strong element of symbolism in Hip Hop culture and is present in all events of its kind, but it was during the research of the stories of each dancer, their expectations and anxieties within and beyond the creation process, that I was intuitively closing the puzzle … And what other metaphors contained this wheel? I rememberd of “Roda Viva” by Chico Buarque, and we carried out some meaning… The wheel is an ascension’s place for Hip Hop dancers’, where they are able to build a leadership … But there are other wheels, metaphors of pressures hanging over the heads of those who live this universe . It is on these wheels and over these wheels that we have built the show “, the choreographer explains.
Gueto (qual o ônibus que pego depois da rodoviária)
The choreographer Sonia Destri Lie had as a starting point for the show, the Baile Charme of Madureira, that takes place under the Viaduto Negrão de Lima in the neighborhood. Along with the group that rehearsed in Arena Fernando Torres, neighborhood of the place, the piece brings together what they think of dance and where they want to go with it, on the outskirts and suburbs of Rio de Janeiro.
“The idea came when we talked about how they felt in the daily life and achievements. That’s where the name came from. They felt like a team, a collective, pairs … The choreographic piece is the result of a collective work. Completely urban and modern, influenced by social dances and the boldness of contemporary dance, and dialogue with Break dance, Passinho and Hip Hop. They appropriated the work and the authorship of the movement. What is the idea behind all this? Strength, courage and persistence … All this happens with hard work and professional commitment, but tempered with joy”, explains Sonia.
