Quantum
A high combustion artistic collision. That’s the best definition of Quantum, the result of a residency at the world’s largest particle physics laboratory: CERN, in Geneva. Immersed in this scientific world, and in collaboration with German visual artist Julius von Bismarck, Gilles Jobin learned that all we are all but stardust and that gravity is the weakest of all the forces of the universe. A choreography that takes to the stage, with a rigor that will surprise the audience, all the research done on atoms.
Gilles Jobin’s work is internationally recognized since 1997 when A+B=X was first shown. Jobin leaves and works in Geneva, in Switzerland, and through his Studio 44 he teaches and trains professional performers and works alongside artists from the southern hemisphere. Julius von Bismarck’s work has a strong technological appeal as well as a strong link to science and mathematics. In 2008 he won the main prize at Ars Electronica with a hacked camera that inserted images on other people’s photos and has taken part in several exhibitions since then. At CERN he developed a kinetic installation that is part of Quantum.
